Rusted steel reinforcement bars inside concrete is the cause of concrete cancer which expands and blows sections of concrete off affected areas. To remedy this the areas are cleaned back to bare steel, the steel is treated with a rust inhibitor and then the area is repaired with a strengthened render mix to match the existing surface.
